Practise saying any word, phrase, kanji reading, number, calendar term or place name from anywhere in this app, and see how your rhythm compares to the reading.
This checks your RHYTHM — the beat count, the long vowels, the held っ — not whether your sounds are actually right. Nail every beat with the wrong vowels and it will still call that a good score.
An optional second opinion from an offline speech recogniser — it listens for the actual words, not just the rhythm the timing score above measures. Turning this on downloads about 48 MB once; after that it runs entirely on this device, offline, for every word you practise. Turning it back off does not delete that download — it stays on the device, so turning it on again later is instant.
The reading is what makes measurement possible — type one in and you get a beat score; leave it blank and you still get playback and recording, just no score.
Pronunciation practice compares your recording’s timing against the mora count implied by each item’s kana reading — how many beats, where the long vowels and small-kana combinations fall, and where a doubled consonant (っ) holds. It says nothing about whether your vowels or consonants are the right sounds; there is no reference audio and no phonetic model here, only rhythm. Nothing is uploaded — this app has no server — and audio is analysed live in the browser only. The recent list is stored in this browser only.
